What is Expected and Why all the rules?
Instructions
Reasons for the Rules
This is to prevent assignments being done while in other classes/bus/cafeteria. If you have problem meeting this requirement, please see me to make alternative arrangements. When an assignment is done at home or in the media center it is more likely to receive your full attention and consequently receive a better grade. The work you submit should be something that you are proud of, demonstrate a learning gain and, of course, be your personal best. By meeting these stringent, but worthwhile requirements, you will grow academically and develop successful study habits beyond the core curriculum. Another, practical reason for typing up assignments, is that they are much easier to replace should they be misplaced. Assignments that are saved to a computer can be easily amended for revision - improved second drafts can be resubmitted, should the first one be incorrect or unsatisfactory. If you are really careful you will save them to Google Docs - or something similar - so that if you leave an assignment at home, or you wish to make some late amendments, you will be able to access it online at school that day.
Written Response: What is expected?
1. The layout of the written response follows all the instruction found on the website.
2. Meeting the deadline means that papers are handed in physically the lesson due. Not printed up later, not emailed later. Computer problems are not an acceptable excuse, the school has many computers, and you have 90 minutes of advisory a week, plus after-school access.
3. The paper is written with due care and attention. Your writing should be clear and concise and rudimentary rules of grammar should always be obeyed. What you hand in should suffice as an explanation without you being there to explain it – that is the primary purpose of writing.
4. Read the question carefully; make sure you answer the question, not a question closely related or just part of the question.
5. Reinforce your answer with an example
6. Don’t restate your answer, you only get points for the response once, writing the same thing over-and-over again in different words will not result in additional points.
7. Don’t pad your answer, but don’t be economical either.
8. Reread the final draft before you have printed. Ask yourself: Does this make sense? Does it really answer the questions? Is it my best work?
